Fluoridation system update

On display until 16 October 2026, 12:00 AM

Council is working with its specialist contractor and NSW Health to replace and upgrade the fluoridation system, with the project funded through a NSW Health grant program.

The system at the Uralla Water Treatment Plant has been offline since February 2024.

The works involve more than replacing equipment. To meet current operational and safety requirements, the project has included detailed design work, regulatory approvals, equipment procurement, and upgrades to the treatment plant building and associated infrastructure.

These requirements, combined with contractor availability, supply chain delays and weather impacts, have extended the timeframe for completing the project.

Council understands the community's interest in this matter and appreciates residents' patience while the upgrades are completed. We continue to work closely with NSW Health and our contractors to recommission the fluoridation system as soon as possible.

Importantly, Uralla's drinking water remains safe. The water supply continues to be treated, disinfected and regularly monitored in accordance with the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines and NSW Health requirements.

Council appreciates the ongoing support and funding provided by NSW Health and will provide further updates as the project progresses.
