New chapter for community services

Uralla Shire Council has officially launched Uralla Community Care, unveiling a new name, brand and website for its community support services. The launch coincides with the arrival of two new electric vehicles that will help deliver community transport and in-home support services across Uralla Shire and the wider region.

Previously known as Tablelands Community Support and Tablelands Community Transport, the service has been rebranded as Uralla Community Care to better reflect its local identity and the broad range of services it provides across the region.

Uralla Community Care provides community transport for people of all ages, along with practical in-home support that helps older residents remain independent, safe and connected to their community. As the only locally operated community care and transport service based in the Uralla area, the service combines local knowledge with personalised support tailored to individual needs.

The launch also marks another milestone for the service, with two new battery electric vehicles joining the fleet to support Direct Support Worker and Community Transport operations across Uralla, Armidale and surrounding communities. The vehicles and associated charging infrastructure were funded through the NSW Government's Electric Vehicle Fleets Incentive – Kick-start Funding Program.

Mayor Robert Bell said the launch reflected Council’s commitment to delivering high-quality community services while planning for the future.

"Uralla Community Care reflects who we are and the services we provide for our community," Mayor Bell said.

"Whether it's helping someone get to a medical appointment, access essential services or continue living independently at home, our team plays an important role in supporting the wellbeing of local residents.

"What makes this service unique is that it’s locally based and locally operated. Our staff understand the community, know the area and are committed to helping people stay connected and independent."

Member for Northern Tablelands Brendan Moylan said the project showcased how government funding can support both community wellbeing and innovation.

"These vehicles will help deliver essential services to local residents while giving Council valuable experience with electric vehicle technology in a regional setting," Mr Moylan said.

"It's fantastic to see this investment supporting practical outcomes for the community through the newly launched Uralla Community Care service."

Residents can visit the new website at www.urallacommunitycare.com.au to learn more about community transport services, in-home support for seniors, eligibility requirements and how to access assistance.
