With recent detections of H5 bird flu in wild birds in Australia, it's important that you know how to respond if you come across a sick or dead bird.
DO:
• Keep your distance from sick or dead birds and other animals.
• Record the location and details of what you observe.
• Report it to the 24-hour Emergency Animal Disease Hotline on 1800 675 888.
DON'T:
• Touch, handle or move sick or dead birds.
• Allow children or pets near them.
Early reporting helps authorities monitor and respond quickly to protect wildlife, backyard poultry, farms and our community.
