Understanding your water bill

On display until 14 August 2026, 12:00 AM

Your water bill shows how many kilolitres (kL) of water your property has used during the billing period. The more water used, the higher the usage charge.

With the recent dry conditions across the region, many households have naturally used more water than usual for:
✅ Garden watering
✅ Keeping lawns alive
✅ Topping up water for livestock and pets
✅ General outdoor use

You can stay on top of your water use by:
• Checking your bill each time and comparing your kL usage to previous bills
• Regularly reading your water meter to track consumption between bills
• Looking for unexpected increases that may indicate a leak
• Being mindful of water use during dry weather

Think there may be a leak? Even a small leak, such as a dripping tap or leaking toilet, can significantly increase water consumption over time.
Before contacting Council about a higher bill, we encourage residents to:
1️⃣ Review the kL usage shown on the bill
2️⃣ Compare it with previous billing periods
3️⃣ Check their meter and look for leaks around the property
4️⃣ Consider whether recent weather conditions or household activities may have increased water use
