You don’t need to wait until Census Night to complete your Census. Once you receive your instructions, you can fill it out early, as long as you know where you’ll be staying on Tuesday 11 August 2026.
If you haven’t received a Census letter or paper form, can’t complete it online, or need assistance, call the Census Contact Centre on 1800 181 227 (open daily, 8am to 8pm local time).

While 11 August is Census Night, it's not the deadline to complete the Census. You will have up to two weeks following Census Night to complete your form and return it.
