Bundarra Township returns to Level 2 water restrictions

Bundarra Township has returned to Level 2 water restrictions, effective immediately, following below-average rainfall and ongoing declines in local water supplies.

Uralla Township will remain on Level 1 water restrictions at this stage.

The level in Taylors Pond, which supplies water to Bundarra Township, has continued to fall and may soon trigger a move to Level 3 water restrictions if conditions do not improve.

Acting Mayor Cr Kath Arnold said the decision to reinstate Level 2 restrictions was necessary to safeguard the community’s water supply and help avoid more severe restrictions in the future.

“With river levels continuing to decline and little relief from recent rainfall, it’s important that we act now to manage our water resources responsibly,” Cr Arnold said.

“Introducing Level 2 restrictions at this point will help reduce demand and preserve supplies for essential use.

“The sooner we reduce our water consumption, the better positioned we will be to maintain water security for the community in the months ahead.”

Council will continue to closely monitor water storage levels, river flows, weather conditions and projected demand, and will provide updates to the community as required.

“Every resident can make a difference by using water wisely and complying with the restrictions that are now in place,” Cr Arnold said.

“We appreciate the community’s cooperation and commitment to helping protect our water supply.”

Under Level 2 restrictions:

Lawn and garden watering is permitted only between 6am and 8am OR 6pm and 8pm (not both) using a hand-held hose fitted with a trigger nozzle.
Even-numbered properties: Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
Odd-numbered properties: Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.
No watering is permitted on Mondays.
Vehicle washing is permitted by bucket or hand-held hose fitted with a trigger nozzle for less than 30 minutes.
Cleaning of hard surfaces is prohibited, unless undertaken using high-pressure cleaning equipment.
Restrictions also apply to topping up private swimming pools and other non-essential water uses.
