Uralla Water Restrictions Lifted

Published on 03 June 2020

Uralla Shire Council has announced the Level 5 water restrictions for Uralla have been lifted today, Wednesday, 3rd June 2020. This decision has resulted from the combination of rainfall in the Kentucky Creek Dam catchment and progress made to the ongoing repairs and upgrades to the water treatment plant filters.

“I am pleased to confirm the Kentucky Creek Dam storage has been fully replenished and Council’s treatment facilities are now able to meet unrestricted daily demand,” Uralla Shire Council Mayor, Councillor Michael Pearce said. “Water restrictions can now be lifted completely.”

Residents are asked to remain mindful of their water consumption. “The rain has provided welcome relief, however we may return to drought conditions in the future,” Mayor Pearce said.

Council remains committed to improving water security for the Shire, including increasing the water efficiency of Council facilities, working with the community to reduce water consumption, and reviewing alternative water supply options.

Council will also reconsider the triggers levels to issue water restrictions for the  water supply schemes servicing Uralla and Bundarra to ensure supply for the community’s needs during future drought events.
