Major Road Repairs Planned Across the Shire
Published on 01 October 2025
Over the past year, Council’s Road network has faced significant challenges due to ongoing wet weather, with further damage caused by the recent snow event. Numerous potholes have been repaired by our works teams to maintain temporary safety, with a particular focus on priority routes such as Thunderbolts Way.
Some local roads, including Dumaresq Road (Saumarez Ponds) and Arding Road (Arding), have sustained more substantial damage. Council is reviewing these roads for more permanent repairs. In the short term, sections will be returned to a gravel surface to allow the sub-layers to dry out.Drying can take about 2-3 months, once this is complete large defects can be graded and repaired. The roads will then be re-sealed with bitumen, subject to contractor availability, meaning some sections may remain unsealed for a short period.
Upcoming Works:
- Gostwyck Road
- Thunderbolts Way near Laura Creek
- Repair works on Dumaresq Rd
- Repair Works on Arding Rd
- Culvert Upgrades on Wollun Rd
