Uralla to host its first silent disco
Published on 09 April 2026
Uralla Shire Council will host the Shire's first-ever silent disco, offering a free and exciting event for young people in the community.
The under-18s event has been made possible through funding from the NSW Government for Youth Week, matched by Uralla Shire Council as part of its ongoing commitment to supporting young people across our Shire.
Mayor Robert Bell said Council was keen to provide a fun local activity at a time when many families may be adjusting their plans.
“This time of year typically sees families heading off on holidays, but with rising costs such as fuel, some of those plans may have been scaled back or cancelled,” Mayor Bell said.
“We wanted to make sure there is something free, inclusive and enjoyable for young people to do right here at home.”
The silent disco will be held at Uralla Memorial Hall, 6pm-8pm, on Friday 24 April. The event will feature three guest DJs playing live on stage, complete with smoke machines, projections and a laser light show.
On arrival, each partygoer receives wireless headphones, allowing them to switch between the three DJs playing different styles of dance music throughout the night.
Event coordinator Chris Clark said the silent disco allowed for a more inclusive experience.
“A silent disco is particularly great for young people on the autism spectrum,” Chris said.
“If it becomes overstimulating, the volume can be adjusted or the headset removed entirely, allowing you to take a break while still enjoying the atmosphere - including the unique experience of watching everyone dance to silent beats.”
The venue will include a chill-out zone, outdoor seating and an on-site canteen selling snacks and drinks.
This is a free under-18s event, and bookings are essential. To reserve a place, contact the Uralla Visitor Information Centre on 6778 6420.
Uralla Silent Disco is delivered in proud partnership with Uralla Shire Council, the NSW Government, Uralla Youth Council and Uralla Neighbourhood Centre.
